Due to the spreading of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in Indonesia, in order to ensure the health and safety of all employees on the OBI Island and the normal progress of project production and construction, the Lygend OBI Nickel-Cobalt Project actively organized all Chinese and Indonesian employees on the OBI Island to take up or receive COVID-19 vaccination, for the purpose of building an effective shield against the virus.

Since May 26, 2021, three batches of COVID-19 inactivated vaccines produced by China National Biotec Group, totaling 23,400 doses, have arrived at the OBI Island one after another. As soon as the first batch of vaccines arrived, the Company organized the vaccination work.

As of July 29, in addition to that a few Chinese employees who had not been vaccinated or had only received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine before leaving China had received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, the Company had also organized a total of 2,284 Chinese employees who had received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines to receive a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine to enhance the effectiveness of pandemic prevention. In terms of Indonesian employees, 2,776 people had received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, with a one-dose vaccination rate of 91.6%; 1,599 people had received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, with a two-dose vaccination rate of 38.5%.At the same time, the Company is also actively organizing vaccination for villagers in KAWASI village where the Project is located.

In addition, on the OBI Island, the Company has reserves of 400,000 masks; more than 10,000 boxes of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules; 11 ventilators; 1 oxygen station with 50 bottles of standing medical oxygen; 2 nucleic acid testing equipment, and more than 15,000 nucleic acid test kits; and 2 serum detectors.

Among others, nucleic acid testing equipment and laboratories have received on-site inspection by local health authorities, and it is hoped that they will obtain testing qualifications approved by the government in the near future. The two serum detectors have been commissioned and are expected to be put into use in early August. At that time, the vacation inspection and testing processes for Chinese and Indonesian employees will be more convenient.

The above initiatives have been acknowledged and encouraged by China Embassy and Consulates in Indonesia.
